"PEEKING" vs. "PEAKING"

Okay, let's get this started. Peeking? Whadaya got to say fer yourself?

PEEKING: Let's not get into the technicalities here. Simply stated, when you peek, it is generally understood that you're using your eyeballs in a coy or in much less harmless persuits such as flirting or perhaps even some minor espionage. Peeking is a practice of the eyes. But, when your trying to peek into the girls locker room, you're just gonna embarass yourself if you try to peak into the room because, well, all matter of pandamonium could be unleashed. Let's face it Peaking is ill suited for the job. Tell us what ya got Peak.

PEAKING: Well, I gotta admit, being a more physical presence, I do tend to peak only briefly and then get all draggy before I can peak again. It's the nature of being a Peak Performer. And while Peak Performers may on occasion, be tempted to peek in the locker rooms...well, if we used that kind of peek to get around the track, finishing in the lead, or even place descently in the ranks, well. It just wouldn't happen.

So, it's really rather simple to distinguish PEEK from PEAK:

PEEK (involves the eyes; sometimes hands; occasionally bangs)

PEAK (Not so much with the eyes. If I tried to Peek with Peak, well... someone's gonna lose an eye).

Main Entry: 2peak
Function: verb
intransitive senses: to reach a maximum (as of capacity, value, or activity) -- often used with outtransitive senses to cause to come to a peak, point, or maximum

and.... it just never ends.

Thank you. There should be some of homophones reminder sheet, because I've been yanked out of a fic way too many times by someone writing, "Chloe peaked around the corner."

Yeah, it was something like straw/camel/back... one time too many. When I read 'peaking' instead of 'peeking' my brain just goes completely elsewhere. heh.
