Looking for THAT story

For my birthday I urgently remembered THAT story and realized it was time for yet another re-read.  You know the one, that story...the one that encompasses all of your senses and moves into the part of your brain you can never forget (except for the Title/Author Name it seems), and you KNOW you should remember the author AT LEAST because they are an incredible beast in the writing department.  

Anyway... the plot:

Atlantis is invaded (not by Genii; pretty sure this story is BG) and everyone; EVERYONE is taken to another world and SOLD as slaves and if not for Carson only  a very few would have survived.  Although we see Rodney and Radek's circumstances first, John is the first to show (heh) his face.  This is a pretty old story, Season 1, I think so the chances of old hands having read this multiple times is high, and new folk finding it pretty slim.

I've been looking for this as a Birthday reread.  My birthday was on Monday, so I'm pretty desperate: Help!

there's one I remember that was kind of similar where Rodney was blinded and ended up using Ancient glasses of some kind...pretty bleak but good.

Yep, I remember that one too. Not the title or author of course. But I remember that Rodney, Elizabeth, Bates and others were taken as a kind of spoils of war, by the Genii. Rodney was 'allotted' to Kolya, and Elizabeth to the blonde girl. Bates was allotted to Idos (I only remember this because he became slavishly devoted to him and tried to prevent them from escaping that inevitable wraith culling Rodney warned them of. Rodney was allegedly 'kidnapped' from Kolya, tortured and blinded by drugs he was being given, and then 'rescued' by Kolya. This circumstance eventually made Rodney compliant to his *ew* wishes, and a boon to the Genii as a whole as they let him out for science service. They all became convinced of their lack of alternatives when Kolya took them to Manera (Manareeia?) to view the wreckage of a culling in which Kolya had planted convenient evidence. It was an entire clusterfluck of an epic adventure. Whoa, I think I'm membering. John got to be the rescuer in that one while Carson was the power mover in the posted story summary. I cross posted this post at sgastoryfinders... gotta go look at it again. If I can find it. That's another site that will never die! Thank goodness.
