Geography 101

Antarctica. That's the continent that takes up most of the South Pole. South.

North, is the Arctic Circle, which is mostly ice of varying thicknesses. The Yukon is generally a reference to the Alaskan territories.

Comic Book canon holds that the Fortress of Solitude was originally located somewhere in the Antarctic, where it mostly remained until recently.

It seems as though Smallville canon is locating it somewhere in the Arctic Circle, as (I think) the Christopher Reeves' Superman movies did. I can't remember which one has Polar Bears and Penguins. Some research may be in order.

I would do a lot for my geekdom, and therefore I understand why you would do such a think, not only once, but twice. However, don't know whether to giggle or be dismayed that the highlight of the trip seems to be... well, exploits in voiding? heh

The arctic has polar bears, and the antarctic has penguins. Never having read the comic books, I'd always thought the fortress was in the arctic.

Last I heard, penguins can't bite your head off. However, the increased danger from penguin stampedes....

Confusion regarding the arctic/antarctic is perfectly understandable, when the most common view of mythology comes from the Superman movies, and while the movies didn't specify 'which' arctic wasteland produced the fortress, it seemed pretty clear it 'had' to be near Kansas. What with Kal walking back and forth all the time. :) (although, now I'll have to whip out the DVDs, because I think Lex does mention... hm)

Currently, the 'new' Fortress is in the Amazon. I've no clue why. More interesting to draw, would be my guess.
